the only one in the this world who can get up and win after a barrage of unanswered hard punches is Kazushi Sakuraba and Carano isn’t him….too bad Carano got tired (be cause shgot scared) she could have won if she had kept that g’np or kept the fight at long range muay thai.

Did she pass the drug test? How long does it take to cycle off steroids? cyborg sounds like a man. She reminds me of female body builders (natural that is). Good fight but cyborg could be in 145 WEC mens division in my eyes…
good fight – i cant imagine any one actually thinking she had a chance against cyborg.
she did however have great striking, and got away from some close finishes.
it was a fun fight but think it looked like armature hour. both woman were really sloppy.. i think the nerves got to both of them at the start and cyborg was able to calm down and get her head in the fight . sad thing really there are only maybe one or two other woman fighters out there at this leve.l I really dont want to see gina and cyborg fighting again. Cyborg will do the same thing but much faster a second time around.
Why don’t we just go ahead and put a cap on women’s MMA right here and now.
You just witnessed the pinnacle of women’s MMA…and it included the “champion” (gina) f’ing turning her back to her opponent while standing, in a freaking championship fight…multiple times! (reminds me of grade school fights)
I’m at that point when you know you’ve seen enough, to know you don’t need to see anymore. Thanks ladies, I’m done

ha ha, Gina has no ground, could not keep the mount, should have a yellow belt in jui-jitsu. It was funny when Gina landed on top, through Cyborg’s pretty bad takedown (no hip movement), you could tell from her face she thaught she was going to win right there, that it was that easy…
Owned on the feet, the clinch, the ground, Gina “conviction” Carano quit.
Props to Gina though, she almost made it out of the first round.
Exciting fight… but yeah, I agree, sloppy.
The Ultimate Fighter show needs to have a season of women, start to amass and develop more talent.
I agree a bit sloppy, but still an exciting fight. You could tell by the demeanor of Gina that she was done before the fight started. She could have finished the fight but her ground skills are horrible. It’s obvious that she’s never been hit that hard. Gina needs to work on her ground game and start sparring with men that don’t take it easy on her so they can get her number. She’s still #2 in the world, not bad at all. Maybe rematch in a few years if Gina doesn’t pull a Kournikova. Cyborg is quite strong, good GnP and ok stand up, she was just too much aggression for Gina who couldn’t handle that much action being poured onto her. Great fight.
I thought was a decent fight was aot better than some of the male fights they have had lately. This one was matched pretty well. The ref was wrong for stopping with 1 sec to go but it will make for an awesome rematch.
This was a great fight and overall a great event by Strikeforce.
Ref did a good job stopping the fight. Gina wasn’t defending herself and was just laying there taking a beat down. She didnt even getup for over a minute after the fight. If ref didnt step in there she would’ve never answered the call for the 2nd.
I’ll agree, very sloppy fight. But the women are still evolving. It’s at it’s early stages. Hopefully they can try to improve on this, if not, the hype will die out and that fight will be it’s pinnacle.
Gina had gotten used to winning and became comfortable so most probably didn’t push as harder as she should have been with her training.
Why in the did she get up when she was already mounted. She could have continued pounding Cyborg from that top position but because she was more comfortable in her Muay Thai skill than taking advantage the opportunity, she let go and got up. That is why MMA; fighters have to be able to adapt, but she didn’t
Well, this lost is her wake up call. She cries, reevaluates her mistakes, trains harder. Then she will come back stronger and better.

Gina wasn’t comfortable. That was very apparent from the pre-fight interviews. Cyborg was very confident and Gina was very nervous. You could tell Gina was walking into that fight to try to not lose — not to win.
How many times did Cyborg have Gina’s back or had her mounted? Countless more times than Gina. I think Gina had Cyborg mounted only once. Cyborg totally dominated Gina.
I think the commentators did a horrible job of trying to create contrevorsy at the end of the fight. The ref stopped it before the bell. The commentators didnt do Strikeforce a favor by trying to taint the fight.
