BJ Penn
He won the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Crown in 2000 thus becoming the first American to do so and a former holder of the UFC Welterweight Championship belt. He currently appears as a coach in season 5 of the reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter.
BJ Penn is known for his courageous fighting style inside the ring. Penn started learning art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the age of 17. He improved dramatically when he begins training under the tutelage of the legendary Ralph Gracie in 1997 and later becoming a black belt in 2000.
BJ Penn is best remembered for pulling one of the biggest upsets in UFC history in 2004′s UFC 46, when after climbing into the Welterweight division he defeated defending champion Matt Hughes in the first round.
After his triumph over Hughes in UFC 46, Penn ventured in the other mixed martial arena known as K-1 where he ran up a string of victories that garnered him more respect from fans worldwide.
Penn’s K-1 career culminated with a dramatic unanimous decision over middleweight Renzo Gracie in the 2006 K-1 event held in Hawaii.
BJ Penn was victorious in his last fight against nemesis Jens Pulver and secured a win with a 2nd round Rear Naked Choke.
Currently BJ Penn holds a mixed martial arts record of 11 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw.
